No, not the Utah Transit Authority! It was the Utah Theatre Association conference a couple weeks ago! It's such a wonderful time for me to get re-energized in theatre. We have 3 days of going to workshops and seeing shows. We saw Urinetown,
Much Ado About Nothing,
Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), an amazing original production from the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts called "Innovation", and a concert by Pasek and Paul
who are performers and playwrites in New York City. Another one of the most amazing parts of the conference is that the key note speaker/special guest is Anne Bogart who is the creator of a theatre process that I teach in my classes called "Viewpoints". She did an entire workshop on it too and had students from each school participate in it.
One of my kids was in it and he did so good! In fact, one of my college professors (who is a huge Viewpoints fan and teaches a workshop every year on it usually) was talking to me about the workshop and she was telling me about her insights about the kids in the workshop. She was telling me that she and another one of the professors with her were "casting" a show with the students and my kid was their number one pick! I don't know if that made sense, but I was pretty proud!
